Red Cross Nordic Model United Nations 2010
The organization of the Red Cross Nordic Model United Nations 2010 would like to welcome you all to the website of the RCNMUN. Here you will find information needed for the conference and also useful links to know more about the organization behind the conference.
What is Model United Nations?
Model United Nations is a simulation of the real world United Nations. The aim is to educate participants about current affairs, globalization and its effects on geopolitics, effective communication, diplomacy and critical thinking.
You will take on the role of diplomats and participate in committees that are either part of the United Nations or serve as “Internal Governmental Bodies”. Inter Governmental Bodies have little to do with United Nations in itself, but because they serve the purposes mentioned above, they will be included in this MUN.
Once being assigned to a country, your job is to research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, consult, collaborate, cooperate, compromise and then develop solutions to world problems.
RCNMUN 2010
RCNMUN has been dedicated to experiential education through debate, diplomacy, and compromise; Every year, over a 100 students from Red Cross Nordic United World College, other UWCs and around Norway discuss a multitude of issues at the forefront of international relations. Our chairs, logistics, security personnel and media team work tirelessly to make the conference a memorable experience and to breed dynamic debate. Through preparation for and participation in our simulation, students develop expertise in research, writing, public speaking, and the art of negotiation as they fight for the interests of countries they represent on every conceivable topic relevant in today’s global community.
Why is RCNMUN so special?
Distinctive features of our conference include crisis simulations, youth leadership workshops, participation in the annual UKM, a special night social event and much more. Furthermore, RCNMUN is an experience that extends beyond the discussions in the committee room. This year, we pledge to continue the innovations we have implemented in the past to provide a truly unprecedented experience for everyone involved.
This year we have also launched this new website. Information will be uploaded frequently and we thus recommend you to regularly check this website for more information about the conference, your committee and the venue.
We would like to conclude by wishing all the delegates a fruitful experience at the RCNMUN and we, as the organizing team, are looking forward to the actual conference.
